TOSH Picks: Starla Plank Sandal by Loeffler Randall

{The Fab Mrs. Toshner}

Mrs. Tosh is taking a respite from her usual beauty pick to share a little something that has caught her eye for the summer….

TOSH Pick: Starla Plank Sandal by Loeffler Randall

For me this is the year of the sandal. Living in LA, a cute pedi, a great sandal and I am out the door. I have the perfect edgy wedge, neutral wedge, evening wedge. Done. Enter my personal sandal challenge, the flat sandal.With so many out there, you would think this would be a no brainer. But upon my usual Shoepping Sprees {my girlfriend Maria’s code word for shopping sprees solely dedicated to footwear, no pun intended} I am swimming in a sea of basic flat sandals. The market is saturated by mediocre options. This is where I have stood. Flat sandals-less. Until one day a post on Loeffler Randall’s Instagram changed it for me. Their exclusive Starla Plank Sandal appeared! The hunt is over! The star embellishments are so unique and sweet while the gold metallic leather dresses up the sandal even more. Check out the rest of their line as a number of sandals and great shoes are on sale for spring and summer. Good luck on your perfect sandal hunt or if you’ve found your perfect pair, your hunt is over.

TOSH Picks: Amazonian Clay Foundation by Tarte

{The Fab Mrs. Tosh}

Hello POSH Friends!

My name is Kristen Toshner, the Bestie of Lacie (her POSHness) Powell. I have always had an affinity  for beauty products of all kinds; hair, make up, skincare, nails. I have at least three of each of any product type out there (and don’t tell Mr. Tosh but I have established a secret beauty hiding place.) On top of that, I have a regime utilizing all products in my beauty artillery (I leave no lotion bottle un-pumped and never shy from returning a product that doesn’t agree with me). Here I will tell you what I am currently using and loving; a plethora of products I think you should own (and gift). I will give you first hand  advice of what you can’t live without in your beauty drawer and the best way to use it.

TOSH PICK: Amazonian Clay Foundation by Tarte

Forget Sunny + Cher, this is the best dynamic duo! Being a tinted moisturizer girl, I have to admit the word foundation somewhat scares me. Having been a fan of Tarte’s amazing Amazonian Clay items, I kept an open mind and jumped in feet first into trying their Amazonian Clay 12-Hour Foundation. Boy am I happy I did. Not only is Tarte formulated without a number of items such as Parabens , the product is amazing. Before paying too much glory to the foundation alone, I will say it would be nothing without its counter part the Airbrush Finish Bamboo Foundation Brush. The two items together pack an amazing performance. The formula adjusted to different sections of my skin. Oilier T-Zone, dryer area under the chin and it is so easily buildable I didn’t feel scared applying more in certain areas. I tried a section of applying without the brush and the brush definitely amplifies the magic of the foundation. Bottom line, if you are looking to veer off your regular tinted moisturizing path, this is a perfect route to go. Just make sure you grab the foundation AND the brush. I promise you will thank me later!

TOSH PICKS: High Shine Lip Gloss By Smashbox

TOSH PICK: Reflection High Shine Lip Gloss by Smashbox

I am an addict. Yes, I’ll admit it. I am lip gloss junkie. The two-word combo entered most of our lives around 7th grade.  Whether a pigmented gloss or a clear formula for a light sheen, there’s just no end to the performance of this beauty favorite. The first lip gloss I ever used was a simple clear gloss.  I will never forget the first time I laid eyes on MAC’s clear Lip Glass. All my girlfriends had it. None of us were without. Throughout the years I have used many different clear glosses but always found myself heading back to MAC’s crystal clear formula. Until now. It’s been a good long while since I was applying gloss at my locker but the same qualities still remain as important. Enter Reflection High Shine Lip Gloss by Smashbox. The tube is somewhat pricey but will last you forever. This gloss is prettier, more moisturizing and tastes better than any gloss I have come across. A slight vanilla flavor is applied with a clean, easy applicator and leaves a pearly sheen across your smile playing up your lips natural color. Not sticky or goopy, Reflection is a must have for your “no makeup” look to the grocery store or to even layer it on your favorite lip stick. You will LOVE. Pucker up cause – muwah, Tosh loves ya!

TOSH Picks: Baby Powder AKA Dry Shampoo

{The Fab Mrs. Tosh}

Hello POSH Friends!

TOSH PICK: Baby Powder

When it comes to your hair and many beauty regimes, don’t work harder, work smarter. Speaking in terms of effort, time and money, today’s pick fully applies to all three. Whether you are a stay at home mom, a working mother or just any girl on the go, we can all relate to the amount of time and energy spent on our daily hair routines. No one wants to look like an oil slick and sometimes we just don’t have the time to complete the full wash, rinse and repeat routine. Enter the 8th Wonder of the World, dry shampoo. I have had many rounds with and much skepticism regarding dry shampoos but will share with you three different products in different price points for any beauty budget that I have experimented with and reviewed for you POSHees.

Oscar Blandi Pronto Invisible Dry Shampoo Spray; $25
Tresemme FRESH START Volumizing Dry Shampoo; $5.29
Baby Powder; $2

Tresemme and Oscar Blandi are both liquid/aerosol sprays. I felt the Oscar was a more fine formula whereas the Tresemme was thicker and allowed more product build up in my coif. When using a liquid aerosol, make sure to shake the bottle very vigorously and in also between sprays and DO NOT spray like you would your hairspray, concentrate on the roots. Let dry for an ample amount of time and then brush into scalp with fingertips and make sure to brush hair thoroughly. In the end, I found I preferred an actual dry formula. I feel like sprays work against the whole dry shampoo theme.

For powdered versions and my personal TOSH Pick, Baby Powder, sprinkle in at the roots and rub into the root at the scalp. Let sit for a few minutes and then proceed to brush out thoroughly as you would liquid products.I know what you are thinking, BABY POWDER?! But it’s true. The little item that has always lived in our homes is a fabulous dry shampoo and the most economical buy in your beauty artillery and the scent is clean and welcoming. It will work for most hair colors believe it or not and if you’re super concerned about it showing up too light, add a bit of bronzing powder to the mix to darken it up.

TOSH PICK: Kate Somerville- Somer 360, Tanning Towelettes

Over the holiday season I ventured to Las Vegas. Here I needed to be bare armed and legged during the most unattractive feeling time of year (think no sun kisses and too many Canolis). Thank the heavens above my Sephora friends placed the perfect bronzing necessity in my radar.  I am a fair skinned maven in my natural right. After working at a tanning salon in college I learned and saw first hand the damaging affects of tanning beds. The combination of shying away from harmful UV rays and my milky shell, I am left with little to combat my pale skin blues.

I purchased an eight-pack of Kate Somerville’s Tanning Towelettes for $48 (you can pick them up at katesomerville.com, Nordstrom or Sephora) and couldn’t have been happier with the purchase. Now before you snicker at the price point, remember this: one tan in a high pressure tanning bed can run you close to $30 (and wreak havoc on your dermis) OR a spray tan alone can leave a $50 hole in your pocket! Think of it as a $6 tan and no UV damage (priceless). One towel covered my whole body + face. No funky smell or streaky lines. My pale pals can celebrate, as this left no orange splotches at all! The best part, it works with your natural skin color to compliment you the best it can.

I exfoliated in the shower before with a wash clothe (don’t fall victim to pricey scrubs, you just purchased the Bentley of Tan Towels). Using circular motions I sloughed off all my dry skin. Post shower I dried off completely and took the towel out of the package and applied all over in circular motions. Do make sure to apply an even amount and instead of washing hands completely, run your palms back and forth on a wet towel. You don’t want to take the color off the back of your hands by washing. Post application, hang out in a tank and shorts and let the product dry and soak in (no fear it acts quickly). After drying, I waited a little bit and then applied a light body moisturizer I use as my usual lotion routine.

BONUS: Dont need a full body tan and just a face and decolletage glow? Use one towel multiple times and store in a ziploc to extend the life of the towel.

I promise you will love this product and rely on it for all bronzing needs and glowing desires!
