Styled: Coral Crazy

Sorry I didn’t get this up yesterday friends!!

Nothing says spring and summer like a splash of coral. I picked this baby up at…are you ready for it? FRED MEYER. I know, right? Totally unexpected. Caught my eye as I was walking by. Teaches you to always be on the lookout. Since it’s still chilly out, I paired it with black tights, black BCBG knee-high boots and a jean jacket to contrast the uber-fem color. Next time I think I’ll try it with camel boots and a navy blazer. I love the ruffle detailing on the front and can’t wait to pair this with tons of gold jewelry, nude platform sandals and a fun clutch in the summer months!

Merci Beaucoup

Happy Friday raindrops. I don’t know about where you are but it is raining cats and dogs here. It makes for a perfect cozy afternoon of quiet work. I’m going to be totally frank with you (or would you rather I be tom?) My head was spinning this week with busy busy busy deeds and I didn’t take a single picture. Well I did take three pictures but they were for my photography class so I’m sort of short-changing you with today’s Merci. No true photographs. What’s French for I’m sorry? Here is what I’m thankful for this week…

Finding what I believe to be the perfect lip gloss/chapstick combo. Carmex Moisture Plus. Very moisturizing in an old school fashion but in a cute tube and conveniently shaped like a lipstick.

Wrapping three beautiful baby gifts. I feel so blessed to have so many close friends that invite me to celebrate their babies with them and that God bestows on them such miracles. What a gift new life is!

Coming home to not one but TWO packages. One with some items I bought for my bestie’s baby shower (yay!) and the other was an ADORABLE Kimmel Kids tote from my sweet friends at Kid Concierge as a “welcome aboard” gift.

Hope your hearts are also filled with gratitude. Hugs and kisses sweet friends.

Styled: POSH Gift Certificates

Happy Prez Day to all! Hope you’re enjoying a day off today! I’m hard at work but having a bit of a cold at least I get to work in my jammies!

Today I’m showing you how I’ve styled up my gift certificates. They make a special treat for anyone and can be used for any POSH service; event, fashion or home. To see a full list of fabulous POSH offerings, go here.

These particular gift certs I donated to a local auction, hence the congrats tag. The trick with any wrapping job is to layer, layer layer. The other key component is thinking about the recipient and the occasion. Do you want to go bright and fun for a birthday or chic and simple for a wedding? My favorite place to go for packaging is called Packaging Specialties. It makes the whole package feel that much more glam. I used a white pill box to hold the gift certificate and wrapped it vertically with Midori satin ribbon in black and mustard. Horizontally I used a sheer black ribbon with a much smaller detailed ribbon in black and white.

TOSH Picks: Baby Powder AKA Dry Shampoo

{The Fab Mrs. Tosh}

Hello POSH Friends!

My name is Kristen Toshner, the Bestie of Lacie (her POSHness) Powell. I have always had an affinity  for beauty products of all kinds; hair, make up, skincare, nails. I have at least three of each of any product type out there (and don’t tell Mr. Tosh but I have established a secret beauty hiding place.) On top of that, I have a regime utilizing all products in my beauty artillery (I leave no lotion bottle un-pumped and never shy from returning a product that doesn’t agree with me). Here I will tell you what I am currently using and loving; a plethora of products I think you should own (and gift). I will give you first hand  advice of what you can’t live without in your beauty drawer and the best way to use it.

TOSH PICK: Baby Powder

When it comes to your hair and many beauty regimes, don’t work harder, work smarter. Speaking in terms of effort, time and money, today’s pick fully applies to all three. Whether you are a stay at home mom, a working mother or just any girl on the go, we can all relate to the amount of time and energy spent on our daily hair routines. No one wants to look like an oil slick and sometimes we just don’t have the time to complete the full wash, rinse and repeat routine. Enter the 8th Wonder of the World, dry shampoo. I have had many rounds with and much skepticism regarding dry shampoos but will share with you three different products in different price points for any beauty budget that I have experimented with and reviewed for you POSHees.

Oscar Blandi Pronto Invisible Dry Shampoo Spray; $25
Tresemme FRESH START Volumizing Dry Shampoo; $5.29
Baby Powder; $2

Tresemme and Oscar Blandi are both liquid/aerosol sprays. I felt the Oscar was a more fine formula whereas the Tresemme was thicker and allowed more product build up in my coif. When using a liquid aerosol, make sure to shake the bottle very vigorously and in also between sprays and DO NOT spray like you would your hairspray, concentrate on the roots. Let dry for an ample amount of time and then brush into scalp with fingertips and make sure to brush hair thoroughly. In the end, I found I preferred an actual dry formula. I feel like sprays work against the whole dry shampoo theme.

For powdered versions and my personal TOSH Pick, Baby Powder, sprinkle in at the roots and rub into the root at the scalp. Let sit for a few minutes and then proceed to brush out thoroughly as you would liquid products.I know what you are thinking, BABY POWDER?! But it’s true. The little item that has always lived in our homes is a fabulous dry shampoo and the most economical buy in your beauty artillery and the scent is clean and welcoming. It will work for most hair colors believe it or not and if you’re super concerned about it showing up too light, add a bit of bronzing powder to the mix to darken it up.

Styled: Buttoned Up

Merry Monday sweet friends. How are you? As I mentioned last week, The POSH Blog is undergoing some changes content-wise so be patient with me as I tweak a few things. I may not post every day for a bit but my goal is to bring you better quality content overall.

Anyway, for today, our Styled series is back with a fab piece I picked up at a consignment shop a couple of weeks ago. I scored this Alice+Olivia cashmere cropped sweater and I’m IN. LOVE. It is super soft and lightweight enough that I can layer it in the fall and winter or wear it solo for spring and maybe even summer nights! I love the neckline–it buttons all the way across the top so you can vary the width of the neck based on how many buttons you hook.

Because it’s looser fitting, I paired it with J Brand skinnies and sky high platforms to balance out proportion. I finished the look with some sunnies and my Gucci purse. It’s very understated so is perfect for errands or a casual happy hour.

POSH Update

Hey kit kats. I apologize for being MIA lately. I’m in the process of tweaking some things here on the blog so I haven’t been posting much. I promise to have things up and running again soon but in the meantime, I’m working on making The POSH Blog better than ever. Stay tuned. Muwah.

By The Light of a Neon…Bag

Proenza Schouler Tote | Cambridge Crossbody Satchel | BCBGeneration ClutchComme des Garçons Wallet | Michael Kors Satchel

As Spring feels like it’s upon us, I can’t help but start to fantasize about warmer days yet to come. Now, of course I realize the sunshine doesn’t hit the Pacific Northwest until July but a girl can dream can’t she? Besides, just because the weather isn’t cooperating doesn’t mean you can’t add elements of spring trends into your wardrobe to add a pep in your step, right?! This year I’m hoping to add a positively fantastical neon bag to my repertoire. Which one can you see yourself rocking?!
